Electronics giant LG has signed a multi-million pound deal with The NEC Group, which will see the latter's concert venue renamed the LG Arena in September.

The sponsorship deal will help support repayment of the £25m loan that was provided by Birmingham City Council to help the group redevelop the arena.

Phil Mead, managing director of The NEC Group Arenas, said: "Our capacity will be increased by around 2,000."

Plans include new seating, hospitality, bars, restaurants and improved backstage areas.
