Vinopolis to offer carbon neutral events

Vinopolis is to offer every organiser carbon neutral events at the London Bridge venue.

The eight-roomed venue has introduced a "Vinopolis Carbon Calculator", created by Carbon Footprint, which will allow event producers to work out their carbon output.

The proposed event can then have its carbon offset by putting money into energy programmes.

"This is something that event organisers are now asking us and we are the first venue to offer this service," said Vinopolis MD Rupert Ellwood. "Whilst we recognise that as a result of organising an event with us we there will be carbon consumption, we want our clients to be fully informed and to know what the options are for reducing the impact."

The Vinopolis Carbon Calculator will be available from 18 November. Each organiser will be given a unique password so they can input attendees travel details and the number of hours rooms are used for.

The calculator will then work out the emissions created for the client to then choose their method of offsetting.
