The Event team on what's tickled or ticked them off this month.

A Good Month For ...

- Those planners with the joy of an unlimited budget, and who want a bit of A-list glamour, could do a lot worse than hire the globe's hottest DJ, Mark Ronson. Within minutes of starting at the Rock the Polo party he managed to get everyone out of their seats and dancing for the rest of the evening. His mixes of classic pop songs and hip-hop were truly entertaining.

- Other event DJs impressing the editorial team were the Guilty Pleasures crew, putting a dance sound to a selection of tunes you wouldn't normally admit to liking in public. It didn't take long for guests at Smyle's Official Players Marquee party at the Cartier International Polo to revel in their guilty music secrets (below, right).

- Any organiser looking to entertain a lively group of guests should check out the Ibiza Rock Hotel on the White Isle. A hive of activity during the day, this venue also has the capacity to host alfresco live events next to the swimming pool. Throughout the summer it has been staging Ibiza Rocks gigs, where artistes such as The Streets and Dizzee Rascal have performed.

- Talking of venues, the team here were mightily impressed with celebrity nightspot 24. Situated on Kingly Street, the pick of the event facilities was the permanent, wall-length screens that can be used to convey any type of branding or marketing message in an innovative and entertaining format.

- One theme that would not have looked out of place at 24 was the beach one adopted for the Oakley spring/summer preview party at Tabernacle. In a clever touch, production company Fantastic utilised the male and female models from the Abercombie and Fitch store, and strategically placed them in the windows of the bar.

A Bad Month For ...

- In these times of financial caution, it was interesting to see that the drinks prices at all of the parties at the International Cartier Polo were still extortionate, with some places charging as much as £5 for a bottle of water. Way too much for any impoverished journalist.
