GSP won the contract for what is becoming a tradition at the Cartier International Polo event, staging a party that lived up to everyone's expectations.
What was the event?
Chinawhite's annual Rock the Polo party at the Cartier International Polo on 27 July. Held at Guards Polo Club in Windsor Great Park, the event saw 6,000 guests - including celebrities Kelly Brook, Agyness Deyn and Jimmy Choo - enjoy a day of top-class hospitality on one of the hottest days of the year.
How was the event structured?
The revelry began at midday with a champagne reception in the enclosure's Indonesian-inspired garden. The outdoor space featured an orange and pink colour scheme, with exotic furnishings such as day beds and a water feature filled with flowers.
At 1pm 1,700 guests sat down for lunch in the main tent, where the Indonesian theme continued with floral table decorations and ethnic furniture. As everyone tucked into dishes such as crispy Asian confit duck and sake/miso-marinated black bass, jazz act Organic Jam provided music and the Divine Girls performed ribbon dances.
Evening entertainment kicked off at 6pm, with an extra 4,300 guests joining the party. Mark Ronson got the crowd going with a set in the main tent. House music veteran Jeremy Healy and festival favourite Sparkie M'Larkie played in the dance tent, while Chinawhite residents Stanley Bregot and Rubber Ron played in the garden.
As it grew dark the sky lit up with lasers, and Brazilian drummers Grupo Batala, fire act FlameOz and stilt jugglers CalvaDos kept revellers entertained. The evening culminated in a spectacular acrobatic aerial show in which three colour-changing heliospheres floated over to the party, before 100 Chinese prayer lanterns were released into the sky.
Who was behind the event?
GSP won the highly coveted contract to produce the party this year for the first time. The agency managed the entire event, working with Sculptivate, who designed and custom-built all the furniture. Dynamic Bars managed the bars and their staff, while JAM Staffing provided sommeliers and front-of-house staff. The main marquee was supplied by Complete Events and floral decorations were by Jayne Copperwaite. Rhubarb provided the catering, Green-I and Event Concept supplied the sound and lighting, LM Productions was responsible for the lasers and EMF Events provided the power.
What were the highlights?
The attention to detail was impressive and helped give the tent the wow factor others lacked. Even more impressive was how the team managed to hold everything together despite a temporary power cut and the scorching weather.
